I completed the following curriculum map during the 2018-2019 school year. It is not meant to be followed strictly, or at all, but is merely a collection of activities and resources that I did with my students. There are eight parts and each one focuses on research topics which are hinted by the titles.

Enjoy!

Research Part I: How to “Do History”; Finding Student Strengths, Interests, and Desires; Understanding Historical Themes and Concepts

Research Part II: Building a Support System; Finding, Surveying, and Narrowing Topics; Creating Google Searches, an Finding/Evaluation Secondary Sources

Research Part III: Finding, Analyzing, and Taking Notes on Secondary Sources; Generating Research Questions

Research Part IV: Developing A Research Question: Searching for Primary Sources; Making Observations of Primary Sources; Developing a Thesis Statement

Research Part V: Creating Paragraphs; Adding Interesting Elements to Project; Improving Thesis; First Presentations

Research Part VI: Peer Editing & Revisions; Incorporating New Ideas; Process Paper; Annotated Bibliography; Second Presentation

Research Part VII: Reflections Over Big Project, State Qualifying Students, and Book Study

Research Part VIII: Finish Social Studies Skills Assessment, Final Civics Project
